Excuse Me, Lady Chef Here :)

This is a result from watching too much of cooking shows lately... and I can't deny they are actually worth to try.  Seriously!!!
And my current cooking/food channel is non other than the Asian Food (703) Astro Channel.  Boy, I learn a lot actually from this channel... From poultry, seafood to pastry... I think I did good job so far and as usual hubby will be the food critics... teda bias bias arrr :)
Ok, let see some results from the above specially cooked by yours truly and all dishes are made from scratch esp the marinating part :)

a. Buttery herbs rice with special marinated deep fry prawns inspired by Chef Sher from 5 Rrrencah 5 Rrrasa :)

Use fresh prawn is da best!
 b. Deep fry chicken inspired by Chef Wan from Best of Wan.  This recipe is meant for Ayam Masak Merah but I prefer the frying one and used wings instead coz the ingredients for marinating is full of flavour... I like it!

Look simple but wait till you take the first bite lol!
 c. Oven Baked Mackerel inspired by Chef Hugh from Hugh's 3 Good Things.  Using only 3 ingredients you can produce delectable fish dish.  The long beans dish is my VRR so just focus on the fish part :)
Fresh mackerel, lemon and bay leaves!
More dishes coming up next and this time will be pastry and cakes and of course Chef Anna Olson will be my ultimate list!

No - Bake Cookies & Cream Cheesecake

I've been collecting a lot of this recipe since I started my baking life.  The process more or less are the same.  Last Saturday, I can't help myself to resist the urge of baking so I made my second cheesecake with Oreo cookies :)

First time using this recipe by Baking Mum and originally by Kraft and I modified the recipe a bit

Recipe:
01. 1 cup crushed Oreo Double Stuff (remove the cream inside)
02. 50gm melted butter

Combine the crumbs and butter and press into a line 23cm springform pan and chill

03. 500gm cream cheese (this time I used Philadelphia), in room's temperature
04. 70gm castor sugar
05. 3 teaspoons of gelatine, dissolved in 60ml boiling water
06. 2 tablespoons of lemon juice (usually I use Lazy Lime brand)
07. 250ml whipping cream (Anchor), lightly whipped
08. 50gm Oreo Double Stuff, roughly chopped

Beat the cream cheese and sugar till silky smooth.  Fold in the gelatine mixture, lemon juice, whipping cream and roughly chopped Oreo cookies.  To make the cake more delicious, add in the left over cookies' cream into the mixture.  Pour the mixture into the chilled and prepared crust and chill another 1 hour

09. 100gm Oreo Double Stuff, crushed

Sprinkle with extra crushed cookies as topping and chill for at least 3 hours or until set.  I did mine for one night

Here's the result:

Just out from fridge
Can I offer you a slice of cheesecake? :)
The cake is much better than my first recipe more creamy and Oreolicious summore... plus the process is not difficult... Happy trying! ^_^

My First Steamed Blueberry Cheesecake

Woah am back in track! I mean baking track :)

For last two weeks, I had been baking and seriously it was a GREAT feeling! Hah, talking about stress reliever here...

I have always wanted to try something different in baking cheesecakes, you know, usually the process is either water bath baked or chilled one.  But, steaming cheesecake?  Curiosity got the better of me and why not I give it a try then...

Steamed Blueberry Cheesecake (I got the recipe from Suzette Cooks)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ingredients:
01. 500gm cream cheese ( I love to use Anchor brand)
02. 100gm castor sugar
03. 1 1/2 tsp Vanilla essence
04. 200ml Whipping Cream (another Anchor brand)
04. 4 nos eggs
05. 300gm Blueberry filling
06. 1 tbsp lemon juice
Method:
01. Cream cheese and sugar till smooth
02. Fold in eggs, Vanilla essence and whipping cream.  Mix till smooth
03. Pour into 8 inches round or square cake tin
04. Pour the Blueberry filing in pan and add in the lemon juice.  Stir together about a minute.  Pour half of the  filling into the cheese mixture, stir with a chopstick to create marble effect.  Reserve the other half of jam as topping decor
05. Steam the mixture for 2 hours under low heat (after water is boiled)
06. To avoid water sipping in, cling wrap the cake tin 3 times tightly.  And hubby did a good job in this, thanks dear :*
07. Cake is cooked, if the surface is firm to touch and shrink from the sides
08. After cooled, chill in the fridge for at least 1/2 hour before decorating.  I let it chilled for 3 hours
09. For the decor, just spread the half filling on top of the cake and I chilled it again till the next day
Tadaa... Your cheesecake is ready to be eaten.  My verdict?  It's creamy and with the perfect combo of cheese and blueberry makes you wanna eat more! LOL!  For me the first part of the process is easy and ingredients pun accessible.  Only the part you need to cling wrap and steam take time but worth it!
Happy trying all ^_^
The Selective Taste Bud
When me and hubby going out for makan - makan, he always ask me where and what to eat.  This is because I am very particular when it comes to food and he doesn't. I blame my taste bud LOL but other food I can tolerate also bah...
And last night, my sister told me about this one eatery at Market 88 near Austral Park and asked me to try their Spring Mee. I am not sure whether you guys ever heard this coffee shop - Sandakan Kopitiam (SK).   So for today's lunch we headed to SK and the place was full. Luckily enough we were able to get seated shortly.
Now, ordering time!  Hubby ordered Kon Lo Mian Pork Meat and as for me at first I wanted to order Soup Noodles but when the lady said this:
"Mi Sup kah?"
Then, I changed my mind cos I don't really like soup noodles shop style ya except meehoon or kueh tiao so I ordered this:
This is Kon Lo Mian Mix; with fried pork slice, fish egg tau foo and wonton (with century egg and meat inside).  It is a fulfilling meal. The mian that they are using is called Spring Mee.  They also have Pan Mian and Ham Choi Fish Soup Mian apart from the above.
Long weekend is here and this meal is perfect for breakfast or lunch!
See, not choosy at all just a bit :)
Koki Bandung, Alam Mesra
What is so special about this place?
I never heard about 'em before...
Waaah, so far lah just to eat their foodie!!!
But, if you never try you'll never know.
Ok, I must admit my friends and FB friends are good influencer.  Messaging me via FB and phones and telling me about this place since last month.  I have always try to slot in my time to bring hubby for lunch or dinner but with double triple work has gotten me last week... no chance lor...
And, yesterday was a perfect day.  Alas, we were there; Koki Bandung.  Ok, let's look at the ordered foodie:
a) Ayam Penyet - This is their famous dish I guess, because I can see all their customers ordering this meal
b) Burung (Quail) Penyet - Hubby's brunch
c) Ayam Pukul - Taste like ayam masak kicap with honey sauce
With the sambal pedas kaw kaw and sayur-sayuran, terus makan pakai tangan :)
Overall, we give 3 stars (based on the above food only).  Actually, the ayam/burung penyet just like an ordinary deep fry meat but we love more on the food presentation and their unique names.  And they have a lot of other Bandung's foodie you can try.  To quench your thirst, I recommend to order Rose Bandung... nyaman
Heard that Kak Nong also serves Ayam Penyet, wonder how's the taste like... will find out soon :)
My Chee-zees
When I first start baking cakes, chilled chocolate cheese cake was my first trial. Depending on the online recipe and process, I was sure that this was an easy peasy cake plus you don't need an oven or steamer, chill mah - fridge only!
But, I was wrong. I got one ingredient and one process wrong. Instead of using whipping cream, I used topping cream and should have dissolved the gelatin properly but I was just less patience. In the end, after chilled the cake for overnight, my cheese cake was watery and only my base biscuit was perfect.
I stopped for a while before continuing to bake steamed cake and the final result was good and this motivates me more. And recently, I did bake baked chocolate cheese cake during CNY and it was a success for me :)  So, I decided to start bake chilled cheese cake again and this time I read more than three times to check on the ingredients and process LOL
Well, let see the cakes, shall we?
Ribena Cheese Cake; something different but deli!
Durian Cheese Cake
Yeay! I managed to bake these cakes successfully and got compliments even more! And good news is, I got advance orders for the Ribena Cheese Cake hehehe
Definitely is a worth trying and looks like baking addiction is coming back again, well bring it on!
The KK's Boston
I am not very sure if you guys ever heard about this eatery before.  If not, it is located at the Karamunsing Capital, next to Fatty Chef Cafe and one row with Pappa Rich.  Ring a bell?
When hubby fetched me to go for lunch last Wednesday, I told him I wanna go to Pappa Rich but instead we went to Boston Cafe plus we managed to get parky parko (parking) in front of the cafe.
Looking at the crowd (full house), we were extra sure to have our lunch there.  The ordering style is just like Old Town Coffee, Ipoh Coffee and Pappa Rich.  Place your order and write using pencil on a paper :)
So, here's what we had:
a) Deep Fried Dumplings as appetiser  - OK and the dumpling skins taste like nachos :)
b) Both hubby and I chose Dry-Fried Beef Tenderloin as our main course
Frankly speaking, this dish tastes like home cooked one. It doesn't have any special flavor in it.  The menu illustrates it will be super hot dish but actually no, not hot at all and the presentation is.... errr??? hmmm maybe next time shouldn't order this dish
Their service also so - so only, asking for chillies and soy sauce for 4 times, the cashier mixed up our order with other people's order and etc.  I guess that's the perk of opening a shop after CNY kan, everything or everyone is not ready yet LOL!
Anyways, hubby is fine with it and there might be a second visit to this eatery again.  Plus, we haven't try good dish that actually represents this cafe but one thing for sure, it's a good place for meeting up friends; chatting and yamcha.  Give it a try!
The Buffday Dinners
T.G.I.F !!!
This month was a seafood galore for us!
After experiencing bad moment at one particular shop at Seri Selera, Kampung Air, we terus decided not to eat seafood at first! Imagine, I was waiting about 25 minutes to make our order and the captains just acted like super duper busy and even asked me to wait kunun and when tourists came they just ignored me and served the tourists.  Darn them!  We will not going there again!
So, hubby missed eating the siput tarik or tung fung because of the incident.  But, I have suggested to hubby to celebrate his last Tuesday buffday by dining at the Welcome Seafood Restaurant, Asia City.  Plus, my parents in law went back to Tambunan for urgent matter and will be only celebrating hubby's buffday on the next day.
First time went there, first impression; to many people thus tiada seats.  Waited for 10 minutes and one of the captains managed to find us seats.  Happy faces and these what we ordered :)
Hubby's fave: Siput Tarik or Tung Fung - Steamed
Price per kg: RM 20.00
Wifey's fave: Crab - Sweet & Sour style
Price per kg: RM 18.00
Plum Sauce Chicken - Buli tahan oso but a bit sweet
Price per plate: RM 10.00
Kangkung Belacan
Price per plate: RM 8.00
Both's fave: Fresh Prawn - Steamed
Price per kg: Rm 60.00
With 3 bowls of rice, Chinese tea ping and Coke, the total amount is RM 81.00.  Reasonable right?  This will be our seafood spot now said the hubby :)
The next day, we went for the belated buffday dinner with the family at the same shop hehehe and yes everyone satisfied!
Did I mention seafood galore?  Last Sunday, we had dinner my family at Golden Seafood Restaurant, Tanjung Aru - Kepayan for my lil' bro buffday and the next day we also ate seafood for the late dinner.  Nah, too much cholesterol already in our body and it's detox time bebeh!
Yummy at 'Funky Town'
Am not sure whether you guys ever heard this eatery.  It is located in Damai, one row with Mr Bread, the bakery.  I remember first time we visited this place, we fell in love with the ambiance, arrangement of decor and not to mention their affordable food.   Better still, we can't resist not to go this place again and enjoy our food.  So, last Wednesday, we went here again for dinner and this time I managed to snap our foodie! Yummy yummy!
Let's start with foodie first...
My fave at the moment: Lamb Chop with rice and salad, thumbs up from me!
Dearest dish: Lemon Chicken with fried rice
Deep Fry Chicken Wings - Ha, this is a must side order for us
Ok, drinks will be not in the pix because I ordered warm sky juice and dearest; a bottle of Heineken :)
Decor part that we loike!
I love how they put this thing, mcm ada pintu saja kan instead of pillar
The look of Funky Town
This mini stage is cute, sometimes there'll be a band entertaining the guests
We were their first customer and after some time, people were coming and occupied this place.  I must say and think we have the 'aura' of inviting people to go in whether to eat or buy things at every place we go, nah, the owners should thank us LOL...
If you are looking for new eating out, try Funky Town, am sure you will not regret! Business hours is from 11.00 am to 12.00 am and closed every Monday and they serve no pork.
Don't forget to visit!
